3.Yishi Mi + Taiwan Fengtie Group: R&D and Supply of Core Components for Plastic Machinery Measurement and Control Systems
Cooperation Background
Yizumi and Taiwan Fengtie Group are both world-leading manufacturers of injection molding and extrusion equipment. Their high-end plastic machinery, including precision injection molding machines and melt-blown fabric extruders, impose extremely stringent requirements on the accuracy, stability and service life of core measurement & control components, such as sensors, solid-state relays and temperature controllers. Previously, they relied entirely on imported components, which brought pain points including high procurement costs, long delivery lead times and sluggish after-sales service response. Localized domestic alternatives were urgently required, with core components capable of withstanding operating conditions featuring frequent start-stop cycles, abrupt temperature swings and persistent mechanical vibration.
R&D Investment & Implementation Process
- To address frequent start-stop operation and sharp temperature fluctuations of plastic machinery, the internal structure of thermocouples and RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) was optimized with anti-vibration and thermal-shock resistant materials to boost sensor stability. After thousands of start-stop simulation tests, the sensor failure rate was reduced to below 0.1%.
- Led by the Technical Director, the R&D team developed die-bonded solid-state relays and overcame key technical bottlenecks in die bonding processes. Lead-free soldering technology was adopted to enhance heat dissipation and service life; the service lifespan is tripled compared with conventional relays, supporting more than 100,000 start-stop cycles. Optimized insulating packaging technology also shields relay performance from electromagnetic interference generated during plastic machinery operation.
- Custom intelligent temperature controllers were developed, integrated with self-developed PID temperature control algorithms and a user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI). The devices support one-click parameter calibration, real-time data acquisition and data export, matching the control requirements of various plastic machine models from both manufacturers and enabling seamless rapid docking with plastic machinery control systems.
R&D Achievements & Cooperation Value
- Sensor measurement accuracy reaches ±0.1%;
- Solid-state relay response time ≤ 0.1 second;
- Temperature control precision of temperature controllers hits ±0.5°C.
The solution cuts the partners’ procurement costs by 30% versus imported counterparts and shortens delivery lead times from 45 days to 15 days. Localized technical after-sales support eliminates the slow-response drawback of imported components. The partnership facilitates the domestic upgrading of their high-end plastic machinery and strengthens their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
